Introduction:
I used to be a
rather ardent Christian. I went on mission trips, went to apologetics
school and believed. It was this belief that led me into trying to show
people the truth of Christianity, which in turn led me to realizing its
untruth. Strange how that works...
My
argument and disbelief in Christianity can be subdivided into sections,
each presenting a fair amount of my contention but not the entirety. The
main points would be the following:
(1)The god of the bible and the biblical genesis scenario of evil and
mankind are incongruent. (Section: Satan, Evil & Mankind)
(2) The Christian god, savior, stories and holidays came
from other deities, myths and religions. (Sections: Creating Gods,
Holidays)
(3) The bible contains contradictory stories,
unscholarly and dishonest attempts at prophecy fulfillments, and
chronologically realizable embellishments. (Sections: Resurrection and NT
Flaws, Biblical Incongruities, Absurdities, Jesus NT, Easy Salvation)
(4) The god of the bible is pitiless and cruel, as
exemplified by stories in the bible and big picture observation of the
world as a whole. (Sections: Cruel Punishment, God is Ethical, Just God and
Morality, Merciful Healing, The Immoral Tyrant)
(5) The Christian mindset and worldview is based on
adherence to indoctrination, not critical thought, logic or science.
(Sections: Christian Mindset, The Immoral Tyrant, Complex Creation, 15
Creationist Issues, Wrongs of the World)
(6) Comments on the book The Case for Faith.
(Sections: Case)
The
Table of Contents has hyperlinks to each section to allow for easier selection
of a desired segment. Given time constraints, if the argument were to be
subdivided into two sections, the objections in general concept and the
historical exploitation, the following sections would most likely be the
ones to read:
Historical:
Creating Gods, and Resurrection
and NT Flaws
Conceptual:
Satan, Evil & Mankind, and Wrongs of
the World
